Background and aims: Following the expansion of available insulin delivery systems (IDS), we aimed to describe French users’ experience with their IDS and associated factors.

Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey of French people with Type 1 or 2 diabetes, treated with tubeless (only Omnipod® pumps were available) or tubed insulin pumps, multiple daily injections (MDIs) or closed-loop systems (HCLs, only with tubed pumps) for at least 3 months. Respondents were subscribers of the “Aide aux Jeunes Diabétiques” association or users of the MyDiabby diabetes management platform. The survey ran from 04/05/2023 to 16/05/2023 and contained the IDSRQ satisfaction and interference scores and bespoke questions.

Results: Of 1023 total respondents, 896 were analyzable (552 children [age=10.7±3.8 years, 46.9% female, all type 1] and 344 adults [age=43.1±19.3 years, 61.9% female, 87.2% Type 1]). When asked to choose the pump for their ideal HCL, tubeless pump users chose their current pump type more often than tubed pump users (84.6% vs 43.3%, p<0.001).

Conclusions: Results suggest Insulin pumps and HCLs provide greater satisfaction compared to MDIs. Tubeless pumps are most convenient for users, interfering less with daily tasks.
