Les nouveaux anticorps monoclonaux inhibiteurs de point de contrôle qui ciblent pour l'instant les PD-1/L1 et leurs ligands, marquent clairement un tournant dans le traitement du cancer où les patients sont réfractaires aux approches conventionnelles. De plus en plus de patients bénéficieront de ces nouvelles thérapies, et pour certains d'entre eux, ils survivront à leur cancer sur une longue période.
Ces nouveaux médicaments pourraient induire des manifestations auto-immunes appelées auto-immunité opportuniste secondaire à l'immunothérapie anticancéreuse chez une proportion importante de patients et parfois potentiellement graves. Dans ce contexte, il est intéressant de mener une recherche qui pourrait identifier et mesurer cette auto-immunité opportuniste chez les patients traités par ces nouveaux inhibiteurs de point de contrôle sur une base réelle.

Cancer : Hybrid e-cohort on checkpoint inhibitors
New monoclonal antibodies “checkpoint inhibitors” that for now target and PD-1/L1 and their ligands, clearly mark a turning point in the treatment of cancer where patient are refractory to conventional approaches. More and more patients will benefit from these new therapies, and for some of them will survive of their cancer on a long term period.
These new drugs could induce autoimmune manifestations so called Opportunistic Autoimmunity Secondary to cancer Immunotherapy (OASI) in a significant proportion of patients and sometimes potentially severe. In this context it is worthwhile to conduct a research that could identify and measure OASI in patients treated by these new “checkpoint inhibitors” on a real life basis.
